new star wars book series being launched- fate of the jedi

released today is the first book in another nine book star wars series, fate of the jedi: outcast, by aaron allston. outcast takes place two years after the end of the legacy of the force series. aaron allston and troy denning are returning as authors but sadly, mandalorian expert, karen traviss was not able to participate in this series, she was replaced by christie golden who has written for star trek, wow, and starcraft, but this is her debut as an expanded universe star wars author. i hope for great things from her.

the covers of the second and third book in the fate of the jedi series have been released, but only the title of the fourth thus far. also, the dates of the first four have been released.

second book- fate of the jedi: omen by christie golden releasing 6/23/09. cover.

i am currently on the fifth book of the legacy of the force series, sacrifice. i have a lot of catching up to do. with all of my school work and everything that we have to read it’s rare that i get to read what i want. i’ll get through it eventually. it’s just good to know that there is more waiting for me.

i wrote a post about this a while back, around the time that chuck was releasing snuff. i am a college student with very little time, so yes i’m just copy/pasting what i already wrote (but with a fancy new picture, alluring yes?).

in other news, chuck has released the plot of his next book, “pygmy,” which is already written and due out some time next year.

choke in theaters today

the movie adaptation of chuck palahniuk’s book “choke” is in theaters today. it runs 1 hour and 29 minutes. directed by clark gregg. if you haven’t read the book, it’s ok i forgive you. do yourself a favor though, after you see the movie this weekend, go buy the book and read it. i guarantee you the movie will not do it justice. it may be a fantastic movie, but there’s just no way the movie can cram in all of the content; it would have to be twelve hours long. the movie will be good fun regardless. so go see it. but most importantly, read the book.

like i reported before, fight club and choke are the first of many more to come. they will probably end up making all of his books into movies, as long as the movies are making money. lullaby is casting, survivor has a director assigned, invisible monsters is being projected for 2010, and rant and diary have been optioned.

here’s a quote from “chuck” (dennis his webmster) explaining why you need to see choke this weekend:

The opening box office numbers for CHOKE might not mean much to you… but in the long-run, they’ll mean a ton to the future life of other Chuck Palahniuk adaptations. ‘Fight Club’ was a box office failure, and did not make back, domestically, what it cost to make the film. As a result, we had to wait over eight years for our next Palahniuk adaptation.

So let’s not let that happen again. Let’s all make sure CHOKE hits a homerun this weekend. I’m sure that, with the Presidential Debate on last night, they took a hit in their Friday numbers. So let’s make up for that today and tomorrow.

legacy of the force last installment… invincible

(don’t worry this post contains no spoilers, those people aren’t very nice)

a non-music related story but important nonetheless. coming out tomorrow is “invincible,” the last book in the nine book “legacy of the force” story arc of the star wars expanded universe. this story arc is set 40 years a.b.y (after a new hope) and features the return of some old favorite characters. in celebration of this event, random house is offering a free download of the audiobook and pdf of the first book in the series, “betrayal.” this offer expires at midnight, may 13th, so hurry and get yours. even if you’ve read the book, the audiobook is a lot of fun. the audiobook is abridged, but the pdf is not. also offered is an e-book for the kindle and sony reader.
