this says that it is the “official” trailer, but i’m not sure. it’s a trailer nonetheless.

the second of the four futurama movies, “the beast with a billion backs,” is due out on dvd june 24th, 2008. you can pre-order it now from amazon. i’m super excited. the first futurama movie, “benders’ big score,” was fantastic. i would love to see a “family guy-esque” comeback to tv, but i will settle for the movies.

“strangulation, altercation, oral sex and bird migration.”

last tuesday the 27th, the famine released a new album called, “the raven and the reaping.” through their label solid state they have an ecard with four songs from the new album. for those of you that don’t know, an ecard is a site that allows you to stream an entire album (except in this case.) it’s a wonderful thing. i fell in love with o’death via their ecard.

the raven and the reaping ecard.

go check out the new album, then buy it. and definitely check out o’death, i love them ever so much, and so will you. this kind of turned into a post about o’death, but i got the point across.

point: the famine+new album+ecard+listening= pleasure

muse took a break from writing during their tour, which they will be done with in august, then they will devote all of their attention to the new album.

“We’ve just started writing songs for the new album, whatever it’s going to be, you know?” he said. “It’s going great, we just started. We’re right at the tip at the moment and I think the point is that we’ve been on the road for so long… It’s really about getting back together and getting the ball rolling again and seeing whether it’ll roll.”

they also said that this album may not be your conventional album. they don’t have intentions of following the standard mold, but they’re not sure yet what it will be.

“What will come out of that is impossible to say,” he declared. “It may just be albums, but it may be a stream of singles, or it may just be one 50-minute symphony, do you know what I mean? Who knows?”

stay tuned for more information as it develops.

update 1/11/09: bassist chris wolstenholme had this to say regarding the release of the new album:

It would be nice to have the album out in the second half of next year but we have not set ourselves any targets. It is more important for us to make the best album we have made to date and if that means it comes out in 2010 then we don’t mind. Hopefully it will be sooner though. Chris.

update 5/22/09: the new album will be called “the resistance” and is expected to be released sometime in september.
