thank you to mike m. for this wednesday’s submission. flaw.

flaw is a nu metal band that began in 1995 when vocalist chris volz answered an ad looking for a singer, posted by guitarist jason daunt. once they were formed they wanted to begin recording an album, but they were short on funds. they ended up getting their instruments from the musicians friend catalog and later returning them using the 30 day return policy.

three years later, after releasing two more independent records, some radio play, and touring with the likes of fear factory and econoline crush, they landed a record deal with universal/republic.

unfortunately following the release of their second major album “endangered species” flaw was dropped from their label for failing to sell 500,000 copies of both albums. everyone went separate ways and worked on various projects.

in 2006 three of the original members reunited flaw. currently they are on tour with four of the five original members, and working on material for a new album.

i discovered flaw when i was fifteen. i saw the video for the single “payback,” from their album “through the eyes.” it appealed to me very much because their lyrics are very emotional, sometimes anarchic. they’re based on real life situations like heartbreak and betrayal, like most nu metal bands.

i haven’t listened to them since “endangered species” came out. it was a disappointing album in my opinion, and my taste in music had just surpassed them. i will admit it was fun listening to them again to write this post. it brought back memories from my teenage years. however, i just don’t relate to them anymore.

by no means should you take this as advice not to listen to them. they are very good at what they do for their genre. if they appeal to you, or simply if you like them on a purely musical basis, go right on ahead.

for fans of: five bolt main, chris volz, disturbed, 40 below summer, crossfade, onesidezero, dry kill logic, lifer, cold, sevendust, mudvayne…

new feature starting tomorrow

December 11, 2007

starting tomorrow, and continuing on every wednesday thereafter (depending on participation) i will have a new feature.

it will be wednesday’s “what would you wequest?”

simply request your favorite band, or any band you think i might like by commenting on any post, or emailing me at grahamregarding@gmail.com.

my ultimate goal is to spread the word about different bands that some of us may or may not have heard of. i will be reviewing your submitted band, regardless if i have heard of them or not. i’m excited about this feature, because i’m always open to new music. and i love sharing new bands with people.

hopefully participation is at least enough to do a “what would you wequest?” post every wednesday.

thank you and send me band wequests!!

paul gives it a hardy thumbs up.
