i have a little (kind of related) story if you’re interested…
my friend tim has the best stories. his family has the most fascinating history. i am actually working on documenting and writing a biography of his family.
well the story goes, tim’s grandfather was in a bar sitting next to the town sheriff. (mind you this was a small town) a man walked into the bar. the sheriff glanced up at the newcomer, and quickly, but nonchalantly stowed the badge that was pinned to his shirt into his pocket. the man walked over next to tim’s grandfather and the sheriff, and ordered a drink. after a moment the stranger asked the sheriff, “any law in this town?”
staring into his own glass the sheriff replied, “nope, no law here.”
sitting silently the three men drank. the stranger finished his and left. tim’s grandfather turned to the sheriff knowing full well that there was law in the town, he was sitting next to the sheriff. he asked, “what was that about?”
the sheriff replied without looking at him, “that was john dillinger.”
