something, something, something, dark side,  family guys remake of star wars episode V: the empire strikes back finally has a release date.

s. s. s. d. s. is the first episode of the eighth season of family guy. according to imdb, season eight will premier on sunday, september 27th on fox.

something, something, something, dark side will later be released on dvd and blue-ray on december 22nd.

something, something, something, dark side is family guys remake of star wars episode V: the empire strikes back. it was originally supposed to air as the series finale of the seventh season, which just ended, but for some reason it has been pushed back to the premier of the eighth season which will air sometime in september.

new star wars book series being launched- fate of the jedi

released today is the first book in another nine book star wars series, fate of the jedi: outcast, by aaron allston. outcast takes place two years after the end of the legacy of the force series. aaron allston and troy denning are returning as authors but sadly, mandalorian expert, karen traviss was not able to participate in this series, she was replaced by christie golden who has written for star trek, wow, and starcraft, but this is her debut as an expanded universe star wars author. i hope for great things from her.

the covers of the second and third book in the fate of the jedi series have been released, but only the title of the fourth thus far. also, the dates of the first four have been released.

second book- fate of the jedi: omen by christie golden releasing 6/23/09. cover.

third book- fate of the jedi: abyss by troy denning releasing 8/25/09. cover.

fourth book- fate of the jedi: backlash by aaron allston releasing 1/26/10.

here is a little more background information. but beware, it contains spoilers if you haven’t finished the legacy of the force series.

i am currently on the fifth book of the legacy of the force series, sacrifice. i have a lot of catching up to do. with all of my school work and everything that we have to read it’s rare that i get to read what i want. i’ll get through it eventually. it’s just good to know that there is more waiting for me.

holy freaking god, yes! family guy strikes back

the sequel to the amazing “blue harvest,” family guys’ take on “a new hope” is in motion. “something something something dark side” will be family guys’ rendition of “the empire strikes back” my personal favorite star wars movie. guess who’s filling the role of boba fett? peter’s arch enemy, the giant chicken. also as it appears on the poster, mort goldman as lando calrissian (seth green has said though that lando will be played by ollie williams), and what appears to be joe as an imperial probe droid, hi-larious! positively dubious. it will be debuting as a commercial free episode on fox. stay tuned for the debut date of the episode.

legacy of the force last installment… invincible

(don’t worry this post contains no spoilers, those people aren’t very nice)

a non-music related story but important nonetheless. coming out tomorrow is “invincible,” the last book in the nine book “legacy of the force” story arc of the star wars expanded universe. this story arc is set 40 years a.b.y (after a new hope) and features the return of some old favorite characters. in celebration of this event, random house is offering a free download of the audiobook and pdf of the first book in the series, “betrayal.” this offer expires at midnight, may 13th, so hurry and get yours. even if you’ve read the book, the audiobook is a lot of fun. the audiobook is abridged, but the pdf is not. also offered is an e-book for the kindle and sony reader.

star wars clone wars movie poster and trailer

there are a lot of strong feelings going back and forth between fans. i personally am a little torn. on one side i’m excited to see new star wars material. but on the other side i feel like lucas is wasting time on this that he could be spending to make episodes VII, VIII, and IX with real people. after all, all of the main actors are still alive. i’ve heard that flat out he is not going to make the rest of the movies, or let anyone else make them, but a nerd can dream… a nerd can dream.

graham regarding… a well earned nerd holiday

two weeks ago i discussed my plans and failures to see the star wars exhibit at the museum of science and industry in chicago. i finally made it! it was amazing. i took about 300 pictures. i’ll go more into detail soon. the whole day was very eventful, never a dull moment.

well we didn’t make it to the star wars exhibit. it’s a long story, but i’m not meant to go downtown (the city). something happens every time. we’re going to try again next week, break the curse!

star wars, where science meets imagination in chicagothe date for this post is the 4th because i’m writing it at 2:00 in the morning. later today i am going to the star wars exhibit at the museum of science and industry and it is going to be amazing. i’m going to be like a little kid. i’m dragging my lady along kicking and screaming (she’s actually a good sport).i will try to write something new later, but i will be very busy today.i will have extra fun for all the fellow nerds out there who can’t go. i’ll let you know how it was.star wars exhibitimage from
