the accomplished and multi-talented sir anthony hopkins has embraced his love of the piano and is planning a world tour.

the idea was initially proposed by musician malcolm luker, whom hopkins worked with on the movie “slipstream.” as well as directing and acting in the film, hopkins wrote most of the score. the movie itself wasn’t very successful, but critics were astounded by the music. this reaction gave hopkins the confidence to agree to a world tour.

hopkins used to get lost in art, such as painting, drawing, and playing the piano when he was a school boy.

hopkins also released a single in 1986 called, “distant star.” which peaked at #75 in the uk charts.

the tour will consist of hopkins playing mostly his own piano compositions, and telling anecdotes about his career. it is being organized by malcolm luker, and will begin either next year or in early 2009. it is expected to commence in australia.
