quote of the day #3

January 7, 2009

“a letter always seemed to me like immortality because it is the mind alone without corporeal friend.”

-emily dickinson

another great writer and one whom sadly wasn’t fully appreciated until after her death. i write haiku and many other things when i’m not writing this blog. a writing teacher in high school once compared me to emily dickinson because i became somewhat of a recluse my senior year and i would just sit alone and write.

to date, i am on haiku #1,238 and the number grows everyday. as much as i appreciate my high school teacher likening me to emily dickinson, i would prefer knowing that my writings have touched and influenced people while i was alive, as opposed to having them discovered and appreciated posthumously.

“i’m on the porch cause i lost my house key, pick up my book i read bukowski.”
