pixar short film- lifted
June 16, 2009
seeing up last week has rekindled my pixar love so i decided to share this great short film with all of you.
also, after discovering that toy story 3 is coming out june 18th 2010, today i was searching imdb for any other pixar sequals that they might be working on and i discovered that they’re making a monsters inc 2. it says it’s just in development so the projected release date is sometime in 2012. i’ll update as it gets closer to being finished.
oh by the way, i saw the 3d screening of up. it was my first time seeing a 3d movie and it was amazing, if you haven’t seen anything in 3d yet i highly recommend it.
toy story 3 teaser trailer
May 30, 2009
with the release of pixar’s newest piece of brilliance, up, a teaser trailer for toy story 3 has been released. i love pixar’s movies. every one but cars, i haven’t brought myself to watch that one yet. it just seems like some hillbilly nascar hootenanny. after disney bought majority in pixar, i was devastated because disney ruins everything. i have been pleased however, with pixar’s subsequent work, i.e. ratatouille, wall-e (of course), up, and we’ll see about the new toy story.
toy story 3 will be out june 18, 2010
quote of the day #10
February 4, 2009
“…and after i pull off that miracle, maybe i’ll go punch out god.”
-john hartigan, sin city
i used this quote in an email to my creative writing teacher today. i was typing the email and it just came out of me. i had forgotten all about this line and it made me laugh, so i felt that needed to share it with you.
sin city 2 is set for a 2010 release date.
quote of the day #6
January 12, 2009
“voilĂ ! in view, a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of fate. this visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished. however, this valorous visitation of a by-gone vexation, stands vivified and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin van-guarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition…
the only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta, held as a votive, not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous…
verily, this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose, so let me simply add that it’s my very good honor to meet you and you may call me v.”
-hugo weaving as the character v in v for vendetta
for those of you who don’t know, as an english major i can tell you this quote is a wonderful example of an alliteration.

futurama’s third of four movies- bender’s game (official trailer)

this week is extremely slow, music-wise, as far as new releases go. so slow that in fact it has stopped. the only notable new release for tomorrow (and that does not mean that it is the least notable) is the third of the four futurama movies.
futurama is another one of those brilliant shows that was way before it’s time and canceled prematurely as a result. just like with family guy, after dvd sales were so monumental it got the brainless exects at fox thinking, “duh, hey, people like this show after all.” unlike family guy however, futurama wasn’t picked up for further seasons. matt groening and the crew with futurama instead were allowed to make four full length movies that would later be chopped up and aired as another season of sorts.
the first two movies were great. just like the simpsons though futurama has become more and more outlandish as the episodes went on. granted the basis for this show is as outlandish as it gets: guy is cryogenically frozen, wakes up in the year 3000, befriends a surly robot, a cyclops, a humanoid lobster, a native martian clutz, a jamaican accountant (whom he first thought was “an outer space potato man”), and his great great great great great great great great… nephew professor hubert j. farnsworth, and has fantastic adventures with them. like i said later in the series futurama has become more outlandish like the simpsons. i guess once you’ve exhausted all the real world based scenarios, then it’s time to drive to machu picchu (yes i said drive) looking for bart, because bart strapped a tracking device to the leg of a bird that coincidentally happened to be migrating to machu picchu. don’t get me wrong, i love the simpsons and futurama, i was merely stating that i prefer the earlier episodes. by the way if you were curious or didn’t know, futurama was canceled because they wanted its’ time slot for football… you heard me.
so after you go vote tomorrow, if you haven’t done so already, go pick up bender’s game.
a great website for everything futurama, gotfuturama.com.

choke in theaters today
September 26, 2008

the movie adaptation of chuck palahniuk’s book “choke” is in theaters today. it runs 1 hour and 29 minutes. directed by clark gregg. if you haven’t read the book, it’s ok i forgive you. do yourself a favor though, after you see the movie this weekend, go buy the book and read it. i guarantee you the movie will not do it justice. it may be a fantastic movie, but there’s just no way the movie can cram in all of the content; it would have to be twelve hours long. the movie will be good fun regardless. so go see it. but most importantly, read the book.
like i reported before, fight club and choke are the first of many more to come. they will probably end up making all of his books into movies, as long as the movies are making money. lullaby is casting, survivor has a director assigned, invisible monsters is being projected for 2010, and rant and diary have been optioned.
here’s a quote from “chuck” (dennis his webmster) explaining why you need to see choke this weekend:
The opening box office numbers for CHOKE might not mean much to you… but in the long-run, they’ll mean a ton to the future life of other Chuck Palahniuk adaptations. ‘Fight Club’ was a box office failure, and did not make back, domestically, what it cost to make the film. As a result, we had to wait over eight years for our next Palahniuk adaptation.
So let’s not let that happen again. Let’s all make sure CHOKE hits a homerun this weekend. I’m sure that, with the Presidential Debate on last night, they took a hit in their Friday numbers. So let’s make up for that today and tomorrow.
I know I’m talking to thousands of you here. And every one of you can make a difference. But it has to be THIS weekend.
Go see CHOKE now. Consider this a homework assignment from Chuck Palahniuk… the real Tyler Durden.
