just a reminder. as i said before, driver of the year and tapes n’ tapes are playing a show tonight at the red stone room in davenport, ia. you can get tickets in advance for $12 at co-op tapes and records on locust st. (cash only) or you can pay $15 at the door. doors open at 7 pm sharp.

driver of the year
i came across these guys in a local paper in the quad cities called the river cities’ reader. i don’t remember who the reviewer was, but they said that driver of the year sounded like radiohead. well i’m a huge radiohead fan, so naturally i checked them out.
consensus is: they don’t sound like radiohead, i don’t know what the hell that guy was thinking. maybe pablo honey days, but that’s stretching it.
so even though they didn’t sound like radiohead, i ended up liking them very much. they’re pretty mellow, kinda funky, just good groovin tunes.

they say they sound like: spoon, french kicks, bowie, pixies, and phoenix.
today they were excited because target has agreed to carry their newest cd “will destroy you” on their online store. here. read the bio, it’s hilarious.
“will destroy you” and their other two albums, “statik,” and “some girls would say… ,” are all available on itunes as well. my personal favorite is “statik,” fantastic album.
