first of all i would like to begin by saying as politely as possible, obtaining permission from a band to release remixed versions of their songs should be first priority and frankly, common sense.

dj amplive has released “rainydayz remixes” which is a remix of radiohead’s latest and immensely popular album “in rainbows.”

dj amplive received a cease and desist letter from radiohead, and after acknowledging he should have obtained permission, he was allowed to continue.

the album consists of remixed versions of seven of the “in rainbows” tracks, and features the vocals of Too $hort, MC Zumbi of Zion I, Chali2na of Jurassic 5, Codany Holiday, and Del The Funky Homosapien.

as far as remixes go, i’m not generally a big fan. the original songs create something that just can’t be duplicated, especially when it comes to radiohead. all things considered though this album is well done, and passes my remix test.

seeing as how it’s a free download it seems there’s no harm done. there is a very sincere video on you tube (here) of amplive pleading to radiohead. he says, “i wanted to show my appreciation by doing hip hop remixes.”

it’s just hard to know who to trust out there since with the internet it’s so easy to take advantage of people and pirate their ideas and creations. it’s sad that our trust has been shaken so much, but that’s what it’s come to.

there is also a video (here) of amplive’s gratitude and apologies.

“rainydayz remixes” is available as a free and legal downloadable ZIP file here.

much love to dj amplive. he was simply moved by radiohead which is easily done. and it was very cool of radiohead for letting him go ahead with it.

more civility, less hostility. this world needs more peace.
