punch brothers are releasing their second album “punch” tomorrow.

definitely recommended by this guy (me).

lead by the insanely talented chris thile (far right) of nickel creek and his solo albums. chris thile brings a youthful edginess to bluegrass and classical, as well as playing that mandolin like a flippin madman. he sticks to the folk-bluegrass roots, but brings his own interpretation and unique style to a classic sound.

he also attracts a demographic that would not otherwise have even batted an eye his genre. “i would never call myself a fan of bluegrass, but chris thile is making me one.” -a reviewer on itunes

he’s just an all around enjoyable artist. one of those rare talents that can not make bad music.

“dead leaves and the dirty ground” great song

the punch brothers were first known as “how to grow a band,” then changed their name to “the tensions mountain boys,” before finally settling with “punch brothers.”
